Once upon a time dining experience.

The  'experiential fine dine' place in Hyderabad.

Most of my messages/conversations are around food recommendations, asking for places to eat mentioning the occasion and when a message from those friends come saying How are you Arvind, my Restaurant Recommendation System mode is activated. So here I'm throwing out an open recommendation to the world - A fine dine place that has always had that wow factor that not many restaurants can replicate and is truly fit for a celebration.

It was my friends birthday and I tried the Vegetarian set menu - which is called 'Green Fables'. There are 3 specialty menus apart from the A'la carte menu. The Deccan Tales(Hyderabadi) and Indian Epics both predominantly non-vegetarian fares were tried by my friends.

The menu is well curated and rightly portioned. If you are a food enthusiast each dish has a local inspiration, an ingredient doing a crossover which sparks your curiosity to the infinite possibilities to innovate with Indian dishes and also makes you curious about the original dish.

Located at Hotel Greenpark which is popular for many things from the famous midnight biryani to all days Haleem this place steers it to a different dining experience which very few places in Hyderabad can boast about - A progressive, modern Indian cuisine.

I met Chef Vignesh in 2019 where we hosted an event for a group to showcase this set menu, his body of work speaks volumes about his understanding of world food. He brings his travel experiences and his culinary expertise together to dish out a very interesting set of dishes which are part of the menu at OUAT.

The Amuse bouche (which is set to activate the taste buds) was a Vada shaped crunchy cucumber dipped in thick yoghurt and decorated with masala rice puffs. Who knew you could make a vegetable so interesting and hello fibers to start off your meal.

It will be unfair to describe the dishes and the local inspirations to them if you don't experience it yourself. But my 4 star dishes from this meal with small descriptions of it are as follows.

1 - Carrot Poriyal With Carrot puree as the base with Vinaigrette dressing, some pickled carrots and roasted carrots sliced along the length with tender coconut bits adding to the bite and taste is a beautiful take on a quintessential household dish. This is decorated with dosa crisps.

2 - Paneer 'Masala donuts' and coffee cup mein 'Makhani' -

Full marks for that idea and presentation.

Designed as a cutlet for easy dip and eat. Extremely tasty and rich.

3 - Bun parotta and Nilgiri mushroom.

This has to be my favourite dish if I have to order in A'la carte. The Niligiri Mushroom curry is very interesting and flavourful. The Bun Parotta is masterfully done. Can you guess the inspiration for this dish?

4 - Chai and Samosa (As a dessert)!

Filled with Palkova in pastry sheets presented as a samosa. If you have a fondness for baklava and Khoa sweets this fusion will really rock your boat. This is a visual delight topped with chikki pieces for the bite. 😊

Chef Azhar was kind enough to visit our table and took feedback about what we thought. I was happy to try a few new dishes and the Birthday girl was happy with a surprise cake got to the table by the staff.

My feedback to them was just two things -

A little more balance in the desserts and surprised that the Veg and Non veg set menus are priced the same.

Overall a positive experience topped with very attentive service by Dinesh. This is priced at 1950++ but we availed the Zomato GOLD offer to get a handsome 30% off. Please lookup the other 2 menus to make an informed choice :)
